The Parade on the streets of Galway will begin on Monday March 17th at 11.30am and will finish at approximately 1.00pm.
The theme of the Galway Parade for 2014 is, “The Sea” and Galway's relationship with the sea will be brought to life throughout its medieval streets over the course of the Parade. The Galway parade will feature an exciting mix of marching bands, local community groups, dancing groups, pipe bands and local business floats. With groups coming from all over the world, expect the streets to burst into life as the centre of the city is set to become transformed by a riot of colour and sound.
Over this major annual international festival built around our own Irish national holiday -the ‘owners’ of the festival, the Irish people, would stand proud.
It sets out to reflect the talents and achievements of Irish people on many national and world stages, and it acts as an exciting showcase for the manifold skills of the people of Ireland, of every age and social background.
As the one national holiday that is celebrated in more countries around the world than any other, St. Patrick’s Day is the day when everyone wants to be Irish. And Galway, the cultural capital in the West coast of Ireland is where you will want to be.
