Galway City on Ice

16th November 2018 – 6th January 2019

The ice rink in Galway is located in Salthill and is open 7 days a week except Christmas Day. It is open from 2pm to 8pm with skating sessions take place on the hour lasting for 45 minutes and they recommend that skaters arrive at least 20 minutes before their session starts.

Galway Christmas Festival (16th Nov - 21st Dec 2018)

This years' Christmas Market in Galway will open from 6pm on Friday 16th November seven days a week until Friday 21st December 2018.

The Galway Christmas Market received over 350,000 visitors last year and there were more than 50 wooden chalets located Eyre Square along with the Santa's Grotto, the German Bier Keller numerous other theatrical delights throughout the four week fair. This will be the seventh year of the market in Galway and visitors can expect to enjoy a wide variety of entertainment and stalls located in Eyre Square in Galway City centre. Additional features include amusement rides with a Big Wheel, Helter Skelter and traditional Carousel as well as live music, puppet shows, storytelling, carol singing together with charity and community events will feature. Once again, Santa's Grotto will be run by local charities and the popular Bier Keller will be playing host to various events throughout the Market's duration. Food lovers can feast on a bratwurst, French pastries, pretzels or confectionery, crêpes and waffles, while beer lovers can sample a stein at the German Bierkeller, offering a range of traditional German beers, apple cider and mulled wine.
